KEWANEE - Elizabeth Marie DeVlieger, 88, of Kewanee, passed away at 10:10 PM, Thursday, February 14, 2013 at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 23 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Anthony Bernas. Visitation will be held one prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
She was born July 17, 1924 in Cornwall Twp., IL, the daughter of Mell and Renaline (Burcroft) Bral. She married Bruno “Sprutt” A. DeVlieger on December 1, 1956 at Visitation Catholic Church in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on April 7, 1986. Survivors include two nephews, Darwin (Christina) Bral of Kewanee and Rick (Julie) Bral of Hopedale, IL, great nieces and nephews, Jeffrey (Carrie) Bral of Elgin, IL, Andrew (Candy) Bral of Bloomington, IL, Elizabeth, Jonathon and Alexis Bral, all of Kewanee, Michelle Bral of Peoria and Kristen (Mike) Bitner of Hopedale, IL and a great-great nephew Jacob Bral. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Elizabeth had worked as a cashier at Piggly Wiggly and then Eagles grocery stores. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and its Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed Rolle Bolle, knitting, crocheting, reading, traveling and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She truly loved her family and keeping up with what was going on with them.
