GALVA - Sheila Gerard, 78, a resident at Royal Oaks Care Center in Kewanee, formerly of Galva, died at 3:15 AM, Saturday February 23, 2013 at the center.
Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, February 26 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Private inurnment will be at Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the BHE College Foundation.
She was born September 26, 1934 in Warrington, England, the daughter of William and Eva (Lowe) Sutcliffe. She married Kenneth D. “Kenny” Gerard on September 26, 1953 in Warrington, England and he preceded her in death on March 16, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Roy and 2 sisters, Ivie and Gladys. She is survived by a son, Kevin (Lisa) Gerard and a daughter, Rhonda (Kim) Ballard, both of Galva, four grandchildren, Nick, Savannah, Sam and Ana, three brothers, William, Raymond and Graham, all of Warrington, England and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Sheila graduated from school in Warrington. She was a member of the Church of England. She had worked at a box factory in England and then at Lilly-Tulip in Galva. She primarily was a full time Mom and thoroughly enjoyed her children and grandchildren.
